ပ်ဥ္းမငုတ္တို


ဖုထစ္ရြတ္တြ၊ ငွက္ဠင္းတသို ့
ပ်ဥ္းမငုတ္တို၊ သက္ႀကားအိုသည္
ကုန္းမိုထက္တြင္ တစ္ပင္တည္း။

ခြဆံုအေကြး၊ သစ္ေခါင္းေဆြးလည္း
အေဖးတက္လွာ၊ အိုင္းအမာသို ့
က်ယ္စြာဟက္ပက္ ျခအိမ္ပ်က္။

ကုန္းမိုကမ္းပါး၊ ေျမပတ္ႀကားတြင္
စစ္သားခေမာက္၊ ပိန္ေျခာက္ေျခာက္လည္း
စစ္ေရာက္စခန္း လက္ျပညႊန္း။

ထိုပင္ငုတ္တို၊ ပ်ဥ္းမအိုသည္
စစ္ကိုလည္းႀကံဳ၊ ျခအံုလည္းျဖစ္
ဓါးထစ္လည္းခံ၊ ေနလွ်ံလည္းတိုက္
ေလျပင္းခိုက္လွ်က္၊ မငိုက္ဦးေခါင္း
ေန ့သစ္ေလာင္းေသာ္
ရြက္ေဟာင္းညွာေႀကြ၊ ရြက္သစ္ေဝ၍
ေလျပည္ထဲတြင္၊ ငယ္ရုပ္ဆင္သည္
အသင္ေယာကၤ်ားေကာင္းတကား။

Dwarf stump-timber,
Ancient Pyinma,
Gnarled and twistened,
Knotted, wizened,
Like an aged
Vulture, naked
On the mound!

Where the quoining
Roots are joining,
Ants have nested,
Feasted, wasted;
Left a yawning
Ulcer, horning
To a scab.

Sunk in cranny
Near the summit,
Lies a helmet
Wan and scranny,
Dinted, broken
-a sure token
War was here!


Dwarf stump-timber,
Ancient Pyinma!
Battle savage,
Termites' ravage,
Knife-blade notching,
Sun-fire scorching,
Shock of tempest-
All thou bravest,
Head unbow'd!

Soon, when summer
'Stils his humour,
Old leaves casting,
New leaves bursting,
Warm winds wooing,
Thou from ruin
Shalt renew thy
Youth of beauty!
Hero! Thou!
